Nagaland 2011

When I arrived in NE India, after a fruitful time in Japan and Korea, I went to Dimapur, Nagaland, four hours up the mountain to Liangmai Baptist Church. Pastor Hudin, now 70 years old, told me he has prayed for years that God would send an American missionary back to strengthen his church and others for Christ. It was 165 years ago that the first Baptist missionaries came to the Naga tribes – “the hill people”. At that time the British army was struggling to gain access into the mountain area being opposed by the savage Naga people who were avid “headhunters” even among neighboring tribes. Many at that time considered them to be “unreachable” considering the fact that the Hindu, Buddhist, and Muslim dwellers surrounding the Nagaland region had never penetrated even the slightest. When the Baptist missionaries arrived with the gospel they were determined to go to the hills. They did and the power of the gospel did what nothing else could. In the first one hundred years, the converts of these original missionaries were used to start over 5000 churches (many ranging 1-10,000 members) and Nagaland today claims to be 90% Christian. I can personally attest that on in almost every town crosses can be seen on the horizons as a testament to the “power of the gospel”.

Natives Supporting Missions

Sadly however, the charismatic movement from the west has preyed on the fruit of these faithful missionaries. As a result, many Baptist churches have been influenced by false doctrine and worldliness. One pastor stated, “Since the Charismatics came 50 years ago, we have lost our missions and church planting zeal”. You see, in the past all the Baptist churches were strong in their missions giving and sending. Praise the Lord we are seeing these fires lit once again. Pastor Hudin was so stirred at the end of the meeting that he promised next year to have 50-60 pastors from that region there if we would return for a “Missions Revival” to raise money and missionaries for the unreached nations in this region. Peter Thiumai, who is my faithful companion in that region, told me that he took the “Faith Promise” teaching and cards that I gave him last year and in eight different churches held meetings and every church raised enough money to fully support four missionaries each. What a blessing. In 2012, we will also hold a Mission Revival at Chil Chil Baptist for 1500 pastors in Manipur.

I met some of the most gracious host I have met anywhere in the world in Seoul and Busan, S. Korea. It is a thrill to see what they are doing for the gospel, not only local, but globally for the cause of Christ. There vision for missions is supported by thier giving spirit and strong economy. Many of the churches give hundreds of thousands of dollars to missions annually. They say they learned it from America. I think we need to go back to school.

Pygmy Church Planting - Congo

Preparations are well underway for the starting of a new church among the pygmies deep in the jungles of the Congo this coming February and March. This will be the first Baptist church in that area. It is a two day trek by small plane to Impfondo and then a canoe ride hours up the River and then a foot hike to the Baka village where we will live while we are starting the church.

Going To The Guaymi Indians

In The Mountains Of Panama

We spents several days in the mountains of northern Panama, preaching in the villages of the Guaymi Indians with Pastor Hernandez and the Bible Baptsit Church of Chiriqui. He is starting new works and training Guaymi men. Sunday three more were baptized in the river. We had the privilege to go to an area further up the mountain where there is no church or missionaries. What a hike and what a joy to see so many come to Christ.

We were blessed to have with us Pastor Gauhdete who for 25 years served as a missionary in Panama. He translated for us almost every service. At almost 60 years young, he is constantly on the go. One particular day, he and Annette and I had gone a few hours up a mountain preaching and inviting others to the services. She and I had continued a little further up two more ridges and when we returned, he was leading these young men to Christ. What a jewel.

After some challenging days to get to the great Congo river, we were praising God for the open doors He had prepared before us. Familiar with the life and ministry of George Grenfell and the 27 years of ministry in the 1800's traveling up the Congo River in the steamboat "Peace" preaching the gospel and starting churches, we chartered a local canoe and venture up river where God led us to a remote village with no church of any kind. On the first visit, Tim Pledger, led the chief to the Lord while Jeff Stewart preached to the villagers and had 48 come to Christ. On the next visit more were saved and Tim baptized the 73 year old chief in the Congo. Others who had been saved requested baptism and with the help from men from the local church back down river a new church began. With the help of the good members at Ebenezer Baptist Church, started by Bro. Gale Dawson years ago, we were able to see hundreds saved along the river.

As we left Gabon and came to the Congo border, we unknowingly crossed into a desolate bush area 350km from "civilization". What should have been a one day journey to Brazzaville, Congo, turned into a 4 day "test of endurance" which included being held "financially hostage" by a pagan village chief; finding refuge one night in a Catholic church; being in the mud under the motorcycle; fleeing from crazed Congo police; dragging our luggage for miles and finally being aided by a former "war hero" and nephew of the former president. Conclusion, "There is a God in Heaven and He knows where you are even when you are lost in the Congo!!!" Praise Him. When we at end reached the Congo river between Brazzaville and Kinshasa, the Lord had prepared some wonderful nationals to minister with and a mass of souls for the harvest.

We traveled many miles across African roads to get to Libreville, Gabon experiencing several break-downs which led to a ten hour ride in the back of a tractor trailer through the night in the bush. Praise God it was worth it all when we reach our destination and saw the souls saved.

GUINEA BISSAU

This was the 28th nation to which ANOM has gone. We are often asked how do you get to all these nations around the world. The answer is by God's grace and any way you can. "Persistance" is a most necessary quality for missions work. Drive it there, then pull it there, then push it there!!! Just get there!!! This is how we came to Guinea Bissau - no good contacts, but a good plan, find places to preach the gospel.

Within minutes of arriving in Bissau, we introduced ourselves at this catholic school. They gathered all the students and staff together for preaching. Over one hundred were saved.

We met a Pastor Mendez who showed us a good place for a film. A massive crowd gathered on the side of a hill to hear the gospel story. The crowd cheered at the miracles of Christ and many were saved at the invitation.

It is not always easy to get things done, but it is always worth it!

We rode to Senegal from Gambia on public transportation. If you know anything about Africa, you know that that is always an adventure. In Senegal, we met Pastor Israel Dasylva. He and his men were a great help to us and the few days we spent together were very fruitful.

This Muslim man watched intensely the life of Christ.

After the film we gave each adult a french Gideon NT, this young man begged for one, so after he helped take down the equiptment, he got his first copy of God's word.

What a great scene this was as these two men and seven bulls ran past us down this dusty road. Much like missions in Africa - Do you have it or does it have you? Thank God we know the Creator of ALL. He has us all and he is in controll. Praise Him.

GAMBIA

When we arrived in Gambia, we had gone two weeks without a stop in the schedule, so after we met the local pastors, we cruised African style.

In Gambia we were able to work with the "Great Commission" team showing the Jesus Films. Pastor Ben Irorore, who had lost his wife to Meningitis just one year ago, was the most gracious host and helper. We enjoyed great fellowship with him and his two young sons. He helped us to get into schools and introduced us to other area pastors. God gave us many souls saved while in Gambia and from there we drove to Senegal and Guinea Bissau.

Pastor Ben's two sons, Barak and Stephen, went home with a new soccer ball after lunch with us. Their mother was one of the first converts of the baptist church there in Gambia. Before she died, she helped to translate gospel material into the Wolof language which is still being used in Gambia today.

At the end of the film, while Bro. Chris Pledger gave the invitiation, an angry crowd began to shout "Jesus is a liar, these people are infidels. You lie. You lie. Islam is true." Brother Tim Pledger was hit with an apple as the mob yelled to stop the preaching. Nevertheless, at the end as they settled, 15 trusted Christ in the midst of all the chaos.

GUINEA

GUINEA Islands

Kabaka and Kakoso

We traveled three hours from Lungi to the Guinea border and then three hours with Pastor Kanu to the coast before we sailed to the islands of Kabaka and Kakoso. Both of these islands were very populated, very premative and very Muslim. We were not allowed to rent a house so we stayed in tents. We were ran off by a group of muslims from our first camp site and also from our first film site. God in His grace provded both a place to pitch our tents and place to show our film. God miraculously warmed the heart of the island chief who after the day of conflict insisted that we remain to show the film one more time to another group of his people.

Multitudes came on both islands and many were saved. On Kakoso we showed the film twice in one night, the second showing ending at 12:30a.m. with over 300 people still present. The gospel is the power of God unto salvation.

These dear people were saved as we arrived on the island of Kakoso. They had never seen a "white man" before and ran for fear when we first arrived. The young ten year old boy in the front was so afraid, that he punched a worker who tried to force him to meet us. As the gifts were given their hearts warmed and this group trusted Christ.

Please, pray for the good servants of God in Guinea. They often press on through restricitons and persecutions as they preach Christ. Pray for fruit that remains in Guinea.

The flag of Liberia is similar to the American flag and while they use US dollars and speak enlgish, it does not take long to realize "we are not in Kansas anymore". Yet, with all the external differences, the need is the same - Jesus.

Sierra Leone

Sierra Leone

We were with some good pastors and churches in Sierra Leone and saw a multitude of souls saved. Pastor Sam Sesay and Pastor Nat Komba were great co-laborers for Christ. Pastor Sesay has ministered for many years to an unreached Muslim group called the Susu.

While we were there, we showed the "Jesus Film" all over Lungi and Freetown. In a new village of Santigia, we were able to help Pastor Sesay with the starting of a new church. That night the chief came and informed us that his own two sons had come to Christ. Praise the Lord. We were able to preach in many Muslin schools and see hundreds of young people saved.

At the Susu Baptist Church, we hosted a Pastor's Training time for church workers and enjoyed a good meal and fellowship other area pastors. We were able to train and equip more soul winners with gospel booklets and films to use throughout the year.

"WHO DAT BORN ME" or "Who's your daddy?" - Many around the world go fatherless, both earthly and eternally.

Training national churches and pastors is one of the most important things that ANOM does in each country. Providing them with the training and the tools to better preach the gospel, so that the work can contiune on long after we are gone.

At the city dump in Phenom Phen, where hundreds of people call home, the Lord allowed us to take the gospel of Jesus Christ and the blessed hope to these hopeless. This young boy followed us around as we invited others to the gospel film service.

Benin is the birth place of African voodoo, a demonically pagan religion that has dictated the African culture as a whole. Here we found the fewest gospel preaching churches and missionaries This is the “Gate of No Return” in Wiadah, Benin, off the West Coast of Africa.

It was here that millions of captive slaves were loaded on ships for 400 years sold around the world

Here at the gate, this crowd received Christ and salvation from Hell there at the Gate of No Return. .

These children were saved at this shrine of voodoo kings.

We gathered crowds on our own everywhere we could.

BURMA 2008

We met so many wondeful believers in Burma where Adornium Judson had ministered and laid down his life for others. Each day we saw continual fruit from his labor.

We tauhgt for three hours on evangelism and filling the house of God to this dear church and pastor. They amazed us by bringing more than 270 people in one hour. Praise the Lord many were saved. This was an amazing pastor and people. Thank you, Pastor Siama and church.

Sunday afternoon the pastor seen here took us to a viillage church where they had a record crowd of 121. Praise the Lord, many others saved.

Vietnam and Loas

Brother Dan from CBC preached to a group on theborder of Vietnam and Cambodia.
We learned many new things about the world that we live in and the gospel ministry here. RAN stands for (Restricted Access Nations). These are nations like Vietnam, Laos, China and others where the gospel is not freely preached in public. For this reason we do not show all the names and places, however, rest assured that we have met many great believers in many naitons.

The "arrest" followed this preaching in the Chu Chi market.

Our driver who was saved that morning spent his first night as a believer in our "cell" ministry.

CAMBODIA
